My family and I decided, after months of prayer, that God was calling us to the mission field to serve Him full time, so we took the first step of obedience to God on August 6, 2020 when we moved to the south of Brazil to better prepare for this new challenge.

While Gisele is preparing better theologically at Seminário Batista Regular do Sul, we can start our deputation and invite churches to partner with us for this full-time ministry, which is to plant A BAPTIST CHURCH IN IPERÓ.

In 2012 my wife and I moved to a city called Sorocaba to set our own business, which was an English school. Back there, we had been faithfully attending a legalistic church system when missionary Shawn Alexander dropped by the school and asked if we would like to have some North Americans over to provide real English conversation to my students. We got really surprised for the huge team from Bible Baptist Church from Mathews, NC arrived in the school and talked about Thanksgiving and how they were thankful for Jesus Christ and  his Salvation.

Couple of weeks later, missionary Shawn Alexander called me and asked if he could stop by the school to thanks us for the opportunity we had offered the team the other night. We were more thankful than he was for that, so we surely said he could come. He brought his Bible along and we asked a lot of questions and we accepted the challenge to start a Bible study with him on the Gospel of John.

Two months later, reading the book of John at home, I figured out that Jesus didn’t need to die since he had committed no crime, but I had, I deserved to die, however Christ assumed my place on that cross and died for my sins. I accepted Christ as my Savior on September 17th, 2014. My wife took the same decision three days later.

We are grateful for God allowing Shawn Alexander and that team arrive at the school and share their love for the Lord. Because of their testimony we can now have the assurance of our salvation.

A year later, I was sure God was calling me for a full-time ministry, I started my masters online at Piedmont International University which I finished in the end of 2020. I left my job behind and decided to invest 100% of my time preaching the same good news that were one day presented to me. I’m now ordained and in the beginning of deputation. Our desire now is to start a church plant in the beginning of 2023 in Iperó

Iperó and region has a population nearing 50,000 people. Its rate of population growth has been above average the last five years and this trend is predicted to continue.  One unfortunate statistic is that there is no Baptist church in Iperó. The Lord opened up a very strategic piece of land lay which lay vacant for many years for different reasons. This new subdivision which will be divided into over 200 lots was developed very close to the new center of Iperó. Land is always breathtakingly expensive in Brazil, but we felt the Lord’s leading to step out in faith to purchase this property. . Needing to build in commercial zones due to regulations added to the price tag. We are currently making monthly payments. But our desire and petition to the Lord is to have this property paid off by the end of September of 2022 in order to build soon afterwards.

Goal: Pay off property by Summer of 2022 (in order to build and meet in early 2023)

Size of property: 570 sq m (app. 5,700 sq ft)

Price of property: $57,000

We bring this project before you to ask you to pray with us in this goal. Maybe the Lord would impress on your hearts to be a part of this project financially either individually or as a church. Our prayer is that a light will be planted on this piece of property and will continue to shine long after we are all gone.
